I am so so sorry that I have neglected to make an entry scince late August, due to personal reasons I haven't been in church lately and blogging has taken a back seat to college work. My apologies again for I feel 3 months worth of godly goodness will come flowing right now. I hope to inspire you all and provide some prayer points as usual.
C lent me a book called Captivating. It's aimed at women and covers the personal stories of many showing how god helped each woman to overcome whatever there downfalls were, It returns to the story of Eve in almost every chapter reminding us that she is constantly challenged by the devil because he envies her beauty (remember lucifer was beautifull untill he was banished to the underworld). The book is laid out in an informal chatty way with every point backed up by something from the bible. I wish that every woman who was ever made to feel unworthy of her beauty by who ever or what ever experience could read this book, whether your Christian or not it will boost your esteem and help you manage your thoughts.
Scince the youth group prooved to be so amazing at ministry while we were away at soul survivor we tryed again back at church, everyone was wary ... almost suspicious but there was no need for the night was a sucsess almost everyone came away with something to think about and notes scrawled on scraps of paper. We split into small groups and focussing on one person at a time we asked 'lord we are praying for *****, please can you help us and guide us in what to show them', bibles and pens at the ready. I have scince tryed this technique to channel gods power both alone and with friends and it has always been productive.
Listening to your thoughts:
Do you ever get a thought, a passing thought, and you dismiss it, saying 'oh it's just me' ?
what if it was god talking to you ? what if you missed that all important message because you thought it was 'just you' ? carry a note book for moments like this, you can check it out in your bible later, if the message seems irelevant to you think if it could apply to somebody else.
Inner peace:
I didn't realise the importance till recently of being centered and peacefull. Try not to go to bed angry or with anything on your mind. On a recent trip to C's place in Birmingham i bought some patchouli inscence sticks (patchouli is the smell of hippy shops, think glastonbury) when i burn these I am instantly thrown back through fond memorys of french market towns, dingy witchy type shops, days out with my dad and of course C's place, when I burn them I clear my mind of all the stress and anger and think of the memorys, once I feel at peace it becomes much easier to focus on god, prayer and the bible. So try it, find something that helps you chill out, try watching a candle flame, listening to a peice of music, taking a bath, going for a walk, once your mind is clear it is much easier to pray.
DEAR ANON,
Your comment means so much. Please email me ! I would love to pray with you.

august 17th-22nd
SOUL SURVIVOR
just a very brief account of the bible lessons and whatnot.
1st night:
the book of Zephania is only three chapters long and mostly hard to understand exept for one line : zephania 3:17 'The lord god is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing' it's the total reverse of what we are used to ! god will rejoice over us !! he loves us !
2nd morning:
matthew 1 covers jesus' heritage. there are 14 generations from Abraham to David, 14 generations from David to the exile to babylon, and 14 from the exile to the Christ. Interestingly in the hebrew alphabet each letter was assumed a numerical figure and thus the names Jesus and also david have the numerical value of 14. Mathew includes 3 women in his account (very unusal for the time because it wasn't considered important which women you were related to) these women were all sinners. the numbers 3, 7 and 14 are important throughout the bible.
2nd night:
The importance of dreams and goals and how God's plan ultimatly controls where we end up in life. It is important not to settle for an ambition because you don't think you can achieve anything more, God wants each of us to be the best we can be.
3rd morning:
The life of jesus, he tended to help people throughout the bible who were 'off the rails' i.e the tax collector (Luke 19:7 'all the people saw this and began began to mutter "has he [jesus] gone to be the guest of a sinner [zacchaeus the tax collector]"?') and the women he met at the well who had been married 5 times (read john:4).
4th day:
The holy of holies is a room where gods spirit was thought to dwell, no one could enter the room with the exeption of the high priest who was alowed to enter once a year. When jesus was crucifed the curtain was ripped from top to bottom and people were free to enter and feel gods presence, Jesus died on the cross so that we could be with the spirit. The team acted this out on stage which was very helpfull for me to understand it. Again I didn't take note of the passage where this information came from so comment if you know.
5th morning:
Praying in tongues. This is a language some people use when the words of our own language are not enough to express our love for god. In the bible it says that this isn't a language for regualar prayer rather someone in church would recieve a message from god that could only be spoken in tongues, they would stand in church and speak in tongues and someone else would be able to translate and tell everyone else what it means. I found this hard to grasp. 1 corinthians 14 explains how the spirit manifests it's self in everyone differently and covers tongues.
1Corinthians 12:2 'for anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to god'
5th night:
Me and P felt a calling and we each dedicated our lifes to jesus, when i came back to the main meeting C had been told by God to show me John 5:20 (something) (ironic because I had just been given 'the message: the gospel of john' which isn't marked as a normal copy rather it has 18-27 at the top of the page I needed to look at) 'It's urgnet that you listen carefully to this: Anyone here who believes what I am saying right now and aligns himself with father, who has infact put me in charge, has at this very moment the real, lasting life and is no longer condemned to be an outsider. This person has taken a giant step fron the world of the dead to the world of the living'. Throughout the week I have finally felt like a real member of the YMC youth group and now that I have given my life to Christ i feel like I have been accepted into his family to. So it's correct, I'm no longer condemned to be an outsider ! and through the healing I have been forgiven for my sins and I have taken the step out from the world of the emotionaly dead !
soul sista:
Seminars through out the week for girls only. we spoke about self-esteem, dealing with bitches, sex, love, god and other girls, being a better friend, asking god to show us our dreams.
Ok sorry for the mammoth entry but I'd like to round of with a passage that L was told to show me, it would be really helpfull to anyone else who has just given their life to Christ or who is thinking about it.
Jeremiah 29:11-13
'I have been waiting and longing for the day that you would come and meet with me. I'm so glad we've had this time together. All that has gone before doesn't matter we have an eternity to spend together and I have so much I want to do with you. Spend time with me so that I may teach and equip you. Together we will achieve so much.'

writers block exersise:
1. fetch your bible.
2. pray that god will help you find a verse relevant to your life.
3. open the bible and read where you eyes fall.
psalm 50; 19-20
'you use your mouth for evil and harness your toungue to deceit. you speak continualy against your brother and slander your mothers son'
I know I am guilty of 'bitching' so this verse means a lot to me. I also struggle to be friendly towards my brother. I feel like this is a plea or gentle reminder that i need to cut it out. I've been so affected by the accuracy of this exersise that I can hardly find the words to create a coherent blog entry right now !
Some doubt has been brushed from my mind tonight. I felt a strong force willing me to stop fanning the pages and drawing my eyes to a certain spot on the page. I know I was meant to read it.

delirious?
L.B just introduced me to this amazing band, i thought i was giving up on this blog and journey but i heard one lyric of there song and suddenly i feel encouraged again. Its like this one line means more to me than the taunts and hurtfull comments from people who disagree with my life choices.
"The cross is such foolishness to the perishing,
But to us who are being saved, it is the power of God!"
[the message of the cross - delirious?]
delirious: Marked by uncontrolled excitement or emotion; ecstatic:
[what a perfect name for such a passionate christian band !]

squeeze a lemon and you get lemon juice
squeeze a orange and you get orange juice
squeeze a christian and you get jesus ....
BECAUSE, jesus is inside us all (that gives you the right to eat two biscuits by the way). When we'r put under pressure like the fruit we give out signs of our faith and spread the word... or we should.

birthverse (again)
mine= john 9:30
''the man answered "now that is remarkable, you dnt know where he comes from yet he opened my eyes"'
In my opinion this was useless to me, it was out of context and didn't seem to mean anything unless you read the entire section.
But then C showed me what it meant.
'it's like . .. ... . . even though you don't know who Jesus is (yet) he will heal you just because you need to be healed. Then you can go on to find out more about him and who he is'
I love it when things become clear !
